COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Linebacker Storm Klein, dismissed from the Ohio State team after being charged with domestic violence, has asked for reinstatement to the squad after pleading guilty to a lesser charge of misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

Klein, who started 10 games a year ago, was sentenced by a Franklin County Municipal Court judge to 18 months of probation and must pay court costs. He was accused of hitting the mother of their child during an argument at his apartment.

New coach Urban Meyer kicked Klein off the team for violating “the core values” of the program. Team spokesman Jerry Emig said later Wednesday that Klein’s status with the team was being re-assessed.

Klein’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
