STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — As No. 19 Oklahoma State prepares to rebuild a passing game that was among the best in the nation a year ago, there’s more to replace than just Brandon Weeden and Justin Blackmon.
The Cowboys ranked second in the nation in passing last season and attempted more throws than all but three other major college teams. Many of the players who caught Weeden’s passes are no longer on the team.
Besides Blackmon, Oklahoma State also lost second-leading receiver Josh Cooper, seniors Hubert Anyiam and Colton Chelf plus Michael Harrison. Add in a handful of receptions from bit players and the Cowboys are without the guys responsible for 264 catches and 3,158 yards from last season.
Coach Mike Gundy says running back Joseph Randle may catch the most passes this season.
