SUGAR LAND, Texas (AP) — Roger Clemens walked into the Sugar Land Skeeters’ clubhouse and told manager Gary Gaetti he was ready to go.

“Tell me what I need to do,” the seven-time Cy Young Award winner said.

The 50-year-old Clemens is scheduled to start on Saturday night for the Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League against Bridgeport. Gaetti says he’s only expecting one start from Clemens and says it’s up to Clemens if he wants to make more outings.

Two months ago, Clemens was acquitted of charges he lied to Congress when he denied using performance-enhancing drugs. He hasn’t played for a team since pitching for the New York Yankees in 2007 at the age of 45.
