BRNO, Czech Republic (AP) — Dani Pedrosa edged points-leader Jorge Lorenzo in the Czech MotoGP on Sunday to reduce the gap in the overall standings.

Coming off a win at the Indianapolis Grand Prix last weekend, the Spanish Honda rider covered 22 laps of the 3.358-mile circuit in 42 minutes and 51.570 seconds to win for the third time this season.

Pedrosa is seeking his first championship. He reduced Lorenzo’s lead to 13 points with six races to go.

Defending champion Casey Stoner missed the race with an ankle injury.

Starting third on the grid, Pedrosa overtook Lorenzo, who went ahead from pole, midway through the race. The lead changed hands several times on the final lap. Pedrosa made the decisive pass on the last turn and finished 0.178 seconds ahead of his Spanish compatriot.
