NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Nyjah Huston claimed the $200,000, winner-take-all Street League of Skateboarding championship on Sunday after Paul Rodriguez missed his final attempt.

Huston, who lost to Rodriguez in the previous Street League tour stop, outlasted seven fellow professionals to claim the biggest prize in skateboarding.

The contest came down to Huston and Rodriguez each having one final attempt. After Huston bailed on a Caballerial Backside Lip Slide, Rodriguez had his last attempt trailing by 7.2 points. As Rodriguez’s board missed his feet, Huston threw his arms in the air victoriously.

It was Huston’s first championship since the Street League final went to a winner-take-all format. It was his third win in four tour stops this year, bringing his 2012 earnings to $500,000 in cash, plus a car, watch and ring.

Earlier this year, the 17-year-old Huston became the first pro skateboarder to reach $1 million in career contest earnings.
