CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland Indians right-hander Roberto Hernandez has left his start against Oakland on Monday night in the third inning because of an undisclosed injury.
The pitcher formerly known as Fausto Carmona was making his third start for Cleveland since being reinstated from a three-week suspension for using the assumed name.
With runners on second and third, one out and a 1-1 count on Seth Smith, catcher Lou Marson threw the ball to Hernandez then went out to talk to the pitcher. Soon, the entire Indians infield and manager Manny Acta joined the conversation.
After a moment, Acta rubbed the side of his neck and motioned for left-hander Chris Seddon to enter the game.
Hernandez walked to the dugout with Oakland leading 2-0.
