ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Washington cornerback Kevin Barnes says he’s been traded to the Detroit Lions.
Barnes said he was informed early Monday afternoon that he was on his way to Detroit. He said he didn’t know any other details about the deal.
Barnes was a third-round pick by the Redskins in 2009. He’s played in 29 games with three starts over three seasons and has three career interceptions.
Barnes was behind starters DeAngelo Hall and Josh Wilson on the Redskins depth chart. He was a contender for playing time as a nickel back during training camp.
