TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Elizabeth Cambage, the No. 2 overall pick in last year’s WNBA draft, has decided not to play the rest of this season with the Tulsa Shock after winning a bronze medal with the Australian Olympic team.

The Shock announced Tuesday that Cambage will not return to the team this season. She had been expected to return to Tulsa on Monday but did not board her flight back from Australia.

The team had been promoting her expected return in Thursday night’s home game against Los Angeles after she dunked in an Olympic game.

Team president Steve Swetoha says Tulsa looks forward to Cambage rejoining the Shock for the 2013 season.

The Shock, who are tied for the league’s worst record at 4-19, play at Atlanta on Tuesday night.
