The Evergreen Plainsmen needed just one week to get that winning feeling this season.

Meanwhile, the struggles at Fort Vancouver continue.

Justin Straup rushed for 149 yards and three touchdowns — on five carries — to lead the Plainsmen to their first victory since 2010.

Fort Vancouver, meanwhile, has dropped 16 in a row dating back to 2010.

Straup got it going in a hurry for the Plainsmen, scoring a 49-yard touchdown run on the third play of the game. He had a 27-yard touchdown in the second quarter, then capped his night with a 69-yard TD run to make it 33-0 in the third quarter.

“It was so exciting. Last season, I only had two touchdowns all year. Three touchdowns in this game is amazing,” Straup said. “Nothing better.”

Te’Kwon Wallace broke several tackles en route to a 54-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to make it a running clock.

Anthony Thomas caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Kobey Eaton.

In all, Evergreen had 385 yards of offense, including 321 on the ground.Evergreen’s defense was just as impressive as its offense.

Justice Murphy had a 20-yard interception return for a score. The Plainsmen held the Trappers to 66 yards of offense. Fort Vancouver had negative-24 yards rushing on 19 carries.

“We just did what we were coached to do,” defensive lineman Hayden Deever said. “We showed up and played, and we took it to them.”

Fort Vancouver quarterback Jordan Suell led the Trapper offense with 90 yards of passing. Gaquan White had three receptions for 42 yards.
