JOHANNESBURG (AP) — Former Lance Armstrong teammate David George has been banned two years for doping.

The South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport said Wednesday that George did not attend the hearing where his ban was decided. Last month, the former U.S. Postal Service rider admitted using the blood-booster EPO after failing an out-of-competition test.

SAIDS chief executive Khalid Galant says “George claims his EPO doping was isolated to himself and he could not provide us with information in terms of an infrastructure of doping.”

George rode on Armstrong’s team in 1999 and 2000. Armstrong was banned for life and stripped of his seven Tour de France titles for doping.
