COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Freshman J-Mychal Reese scored eight of his 15 points in the final 3 minutes as Texas A&M defeated Stephen F. Austin 62-54 on Wednesday night.

Reese matched his career high and kept the Aggies (6-1) unbeaten in 14 games all-time against the Lumberjacks. Reese made a couple of floaters from the lane and made four free throws down the stretch. Ray Turner also scored 15 points for Texas A&M.

Antonio Bostic and Taylor Smith led the Lumberjacks with 14 points apiece. Stephen F. Austin (5-1) is off to its best start since 1981.

Texas A&M led throughout the second half, but the Lumberjacks pulled within 52-48 with 3:45 remaining on a 16-footer by Thomas Walkup. Reese responded with an 8-foot runner on a fast break, then Ray Turner scored inside after an SFA turnover.

Elston Turner scored 10 points despite missing most of the first half with an ankle injury.
