Johnson’s 21 helps Duquesne beat New Orleans 88-70

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Sean Johnson scored 21 points, grabbed six boards and recorded five assist to lead Duquesne past New Orleans 88-70 Saturday night.

Derrick Colter added 17 points and eight assist and Andre Marhold chipped in with 14 points and eight rebounds for Duquesne (5-4).

Trailing 8-4 early in the first half, Duquesne went on a 23-9 run to take a double digit lead with 10 minutes to play in the period. Colter sparked the run with a 3-pointer, followed by a layup. Colter led Duquesne with 11 points in the first half, helping the Dukes take a 53-39 lead into halftime.

New Orleans (2-5) got as close as four in the second half when Corey Dixon’s jumper made it 67-63 with 9:54 left to play, but Duquesne answered with a 21-10 run to close out the game.

Lovell Cook led New Orleans in scoring with 12 points.
