Morehead State takes down Indiana State 71-63

MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) — Devon Atkinson and Milton Chavis scored 15 points apiece to lead Morehead State to a 71-63 victory against Indiana State on Saturday, snapping a three-game losing streak.

The Eagles (5-5) used a 41-6 scoring advantage off the bench to claim the win.

Khristian Smith had 20 points, Manny Arop added 19 and Jake Odum 15 for the Sycamores (4-3), but only two other players scored. Lucas Eitel, who had made 15 of 24 from 3-point range this season, was held to three points, making 1 of 3 from beyond the arc.

The Eagles shot 48.9 percent from the field (22 of 45) to the Sycamores’ 37 percent (17 of 46), and 52.9 percent (9 of 17) to 22.7 percent (5 of 22) from 3.

Morehead State never trailed and led 32-26 at halftime. Indiana State closed to 59-57 on Smith’s layup with 2:55 to go, but Morehead State pulled away.
