Letter: False fear holds America back

The Columbian
Published: December 10, 2012, 4:00pm

The recent elections have brought out conservative fears that America is failing because of democracy, as seen in local and national media.

Locally, marijuana can get you jailed — heck, what about alcohol? The number of people with multiple DUIs still driving is ridiculous and they’re afraid of a “joint?”

Instead, put some more time in catching Oregon plates living in Clark County.

In Congress, conservatives hold us hostage wanting to help the rich, even though polls show a majority agreeing with President Obama on hiking taxes on the rich. There are many reasons the conservatives lost; the biggest was not wanting America to move forward.
