Carter, CS Bakersfield rout La Verne 69-49

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — Stephon Carter scored 26 points and Cal State Bakersfield led wire to wire for a 69-49 victory over La Verne on Saturday night.

Cal State Bakersfield (4-6) had a 34-28 rebounding edge and had a 25-18 advantage off turnovers.

Carter, meanwhile converted all 12 of his free-throw attempts. La Verne (1-6) made just 7 of 11 as a team.

Brandon Barnes scored 12 points for Cal State Bakersfield, Tyrone White 10 and Adam Young 10. Young also had 10 rebounds and three blocked shots.

Jake Veith scored 12 points to lead La Verne and Vince Bauer scored 11.

La Verne turned the ball over 24 times, Cal State Bakersfield 17.
