Girls basketball: St. Mary’s 57, Skyview 56

In a game of two different halves, the visitors from Portland prevailed with a big finish.

Skyview (3-3) led 39-23 at halftime, but scored only 17 points in the second half.

St. Mary’s used a height advantage to create second-chance points in the second half. The Blues also pressed more after halftime, forcing Skyview into some costly turnovers according to Storm coach Jennifer Buscher.

The Storm’s attempt at a game-winning shot at the buzzer missed, ending a final minute that saw several lead changes.

Each team had three players do most of the scoring. For Skyview, Aubrey Ward-El finished with a game-high 21 points, Stephanie McDonagh had 12 points and Gen Lo 11.
