Hurt, 15-0 run for Lipscomb beat Austin Peay 87-84

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Malcolm Smith made a go-ahead layup with 1:02 left and Martin Smith followed with a clinching dunk as the twins from Clarksville led a 15-0 run through the final 3 minutes to push Lipscomb over Austin Peay 87-84 Tuesday night.

Freshman Stephen Hurt set career-highs with 23 points and 18 rebounds for the Bisons.

After Malcolm Smith’s layup put Lipscomb (5-5) up 85-84, Austin Peay missed two layups and four free throws, including two by Jeremy Purvis with 14 seconds left. Martin Smith’s dunk came with 6 seconds left, and capped the 15-0 run in which he scored seven points.

Martin Smith finished with 19 points and Malcolm Smith had 12. Khion Sankey added 13 points and seven assists.

Anthony Campbell paced the Governors (4-7) with a career-high 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting. Chris Horton blocked six shots, and Austin Peay blocked 10 as a team.
