Battle Ground — For the first time in four years, the Battle Ground High School Air Force Junior ROTC program had both its precision and sporter air rifle teams qualify to compete in the national championship. At a Dec. 8 drill and rifle competition in Lakewood, the ROTC cadets were awarded two first-place honors, two second and one third. Eleven high school teams from Oregon and Washington, representing the Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps, competed at this month’s qualifier, according to a Battle Ground Public Schools press release. The 2013 Air Force JROTC National Championship will be on Feb. 18 in Layton, Utah.
