SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — The media director for Syracuse University’s athletic department is no longer employed by the school and, according to a newspaper report, is being investigated by police.
Roger Springfield no longer works for the university, Kevin Quinn, senior vice president for public affairs at the university said Wednesday night. Quinn did not provide additional information.
The Post-Standard of Syracuse reported Springfield is under investigation by Syracuse police and the district attorney’s office.
Attorney James McGraw has been hired to represent Springfield. He did not return a phone call from The Associated Press. McGraw told The Post-Standard he did not know what prompted the investigation.
Fitzpatrick told the paper the investigation began after university officials contacted law enforcement officials recently. He said he expected it to last another two to three weeks.
