JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew will miss his ninth consecutive game because of a foot injury.

Coach Mike Mularkey ruled Jones-Drew out Friday, but says he’s hopeful MJD will be able to play in next week’s season finale at Tennessee.

Backup running back Rashad Jennings also was ruled out for Sunday’s game against New England (10-4). Jennings passed his concussion test but has a shoulder injury and missed practice all week. Montell Owens will make his third consecutive start.

Safety Dwight Lowery (foot) and cornerback Aaron Ross (calf) are questionable against the Patriots.

The Jaguars (2-12) haven’t activated linebacker Daryl Smith (groin) from injured reserve, but Mularkey says he will play “a pretty significant role” against New England. Smith hasn’t played all season.
