HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Nate Sikma scored 15 points to lead Hartford to a 56-46 victory over Marist Saturday.
The Hawks (7-5) also got double-figure scoring from two other starters. Mark Nwakamma scored 14 points and Evan Cooper 11. Jamie Schneck came off the Marist bench to score eight points.
Hartford, which led 26-15 at halftime, outshot Marist decisively from the field. The Hawks hit 22 of 52 shots (42.3 percent). Marist was just 14-47 (29.8 percent) from the floor.
While Hartford was only 3 for 15 on 3-pointers, Marist hit just one of 12 treys. The Red Foxes (4-8) managed to stay in the game at the foul line. They hit 17 of 25 free throws, while Hartford was 9 for 15 at the line.
