EL PASO, Texas (AP) — Julian Washburn was one of five players in double figures for UTEP, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to lead the Minors to a 83-61 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational on Saturday night.

Konner Tucker led all scorers with 18 points, hitting six 3-pointers and pulling four rebounds for the Minors. John Bohannon scored 17 points, had eight rebounds and four assists while Cedrick Lang and Jacques Streeter each scored 10.

UTEP (5-5) shot 62.2 percent from the field in the game, but made 17 of 22 shots for a 77.3 percent mark in the second half.

Mitchell Anderson’s lay-up with 11:53 remaining in the contest cut UTEP’s lead to three, 49-46, but that’s as close as the Golden Lions would get. The Minors responded with a 34-15 run the rest of the way.

Anderson scored 15 points and had nine rebounds for Arkansas-Pine Bluff (1-10).
