PHOENIX (AP) — A person with knowledge of the situation says outfielder Cody Ross has agreed to a three-year contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The person spoke Saturday on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been announced.
Ross, who met earlier this week with the Texas Rangers, adds to the abundance of outfielders on the Arizona roster, leading to speculation a trade may be ahead.
The 31-year-old Ross hit .267 with 22 home runs and 18 RBIs last season with the Boston Red Sox. He’s a career .262 hitter in nine big league seasons.
