After searching nearly 15 minutes amid vegetation in the dark, Vancouver police and firefighters found a woman trapped in an upside-down car Saturday night off Lower River Road.

Once they did, they found a woman in her 20s. Firefighters used extrication equipment to free her.

“The car looked to have rolled at least a couple of times,” said Capt. Kevin Murray of the Vancouver Fire Department.

Fire and police crews were called shortly after 9:15 p.m. to an area north of Frenchman’s Bar Regional Park and about a mile south of Kadow’s Marina.

The woman, who was not identified, was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. She was wearing a seat belt, Murray said.

“I would say she was extremely lucky,” he added.

Police said a man also was in the car. No other details were available.
