CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Z. Mason scored a career-high 26 points and tied his career best with 13 rebounds as Chattanooga pulled away from Utah Valley 76-69 Saturday night to win its 15th Dr Pepper Classic crown.

The Mocs (5-8), who have won four of the past five Dr Pepper tournaments, overcame a career-high 37-point performance by the Wolverines’ Holton Hunsaker.

Chattanooga led by seven at the 2:01 mark and 30-27 at the break, but the second half went back and forth.

After Hunsaker’s 3 gave Utah Valley (7-9) a 56-55 lead with 7:05 left, the Mocs launched a 10-2 run, with Ronrico White hitting two 3-pointers in the spurt.

The Wolverines could get no closer than four the rest of the way and were outrebounded 48-33.

White and Gee McGhee scored 11 points apiece for Chattanooga, which has won three straight since a four-game skid.

Ben Aird had 13 rebounds for Utah Valley.
