Texas-Pan American beats Portland 56-52

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Brandon Provost scored 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting including five 3-pointers and Texas-Pan American went on to beat Portland 56-52 on Saturday night.

Texas-Pan American (7-8) shot 43.9 percent from the field, hitting 18 of 41 attempts, and was 12 of 15 from the free-throw line including a perfect 6 for 6 in the final 1:52 of the game.

Portland (7-8) led 23-19 at halftime but Texas-Pan American went on a 17-6 run to begin the second half capped by a Provost 3-pointer to give his team a 36-29 lead with 12:42 to play.

Ryan Nicholas led Portland with 15 points and 12 rebounds but the Pilots shot just 34.4 percent from the field, including a 3 for 16 mark from beyond the arc. Portland outscored the Broncs 32-14 inside the paint and out-rebounded Texas-Pan American 44-22.

Ruben Cabrera had 11 points and Aaron Urbanus scored 10 with four assists for the Broncs.
