PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Portland police say a 24-year-old woman may have stabbed herself Thursday night.

Initial reports were an assailant, another woman, walked up to the victim and stabbed her. Police officers canvassed the neighborhood but did not find the suspect.

On Friday morning police announced they found evidence that indicates the wound may be self-inflicted.

The victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated for a non-life-threatening injury.

Officers put a hold on the woman for a mental health evaluation, according to a Portland police bulletin.
