CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — John Brown scored 25 points and Adam Weary made two key free throws with 20 seconds remaining as High Point edged Austin Peay 76-74 Saturday in the consolation game of the Dr. Pepper Classic.

A layup by Brown at the end of a fast break gave the Panthers (5-7) a 74-67 lead, but the Governors (4-10) got back within two after a pair of free throws by Travis Betran and a three-point play by Anthony Campbell with 26 seconds left.

After an Austin Peay timeout, Weary was fouled with 20 seconds left and hit both for a 76-72 lead.

Betran missed two 3-point tries and Will Triggs one for the Governors, who were able to grab the offensive rebound each time but didn’t score again until a layup by Chris Horton with 2 seconds left.

Campbell scored 23 points, Triggs 14 and Horton 13 to lead Austin Peay.
