BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — Greg Gantt posted his fifth straight 20-point game and hit a late 3-pointer to help Florida Atlantic hold off Hofstra 61-57 Tuesday in the final nonconference game for the Owls.

Gantt, who became FAU’s all-time leading scorer in the Owl’s Dec. 27 win against Troy, finished with 24 points and Stefan Moody hit four 3-pointers en route to 16 points.

Hofstra (3-10) led by as much as 10, 32-22, and took a 36-29 lead into intermission behind a 55.6 percent (15 of 27) first-half shooting performance. FAU (7-8) cut the deficit to one, 55-54, with 5:11 left to play and Gantt’s 3-pointer gave the Owl’s just their fourth lead of the half.

A Stevie Mejia jumper tied the game for Hofstra but the Pride managed just one field goal over the final 6:16.

FAU hit 13 second-half free throws while Hofstra was held without an attempt in the frame.
