EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Eugene police say one burglary suspect is dead after shots were fired during a residential burglary. Police captured a second suspect in the same neighborhood with the help of a police dog team from nearby Springfield.

Police spokeswoman Melinda McLaughlin said officers responded to a 911 call at mid-afternoon Thursday.

The Register-Guard says detectives remained at the home into the evening.

Two neighbors said they heard multiple gunshots.

None of these involved was immediately identified.
