Paradise Point State Park — A $5,000 donation to the Parks Foundation from a La Center family will pay for the installation of a new nine-hole disc-golf course at Paradise Point State Park, just east of Interstate 5 near La Center.

Target baskets and signs will be covered by the donation.

The course will be built at the north end of the park by volunteers from the Vancouver-Clark Disc Golf Club in collaboration with state recreation officials.

Steve Carson, founder and chairman of the club, said the new course will draw “tournaments, league competitions and casual rounds of (disc) golf” from all over the region. The disc golf course at Leverich Park in Vancouver has become so popular that it’s often congested; this new course will relieve some of that congestion. Pending some work by the state parks system, the course is expected to be completed by late spring or early summer, Carson said.
