Boys basketball: Fort Vancouver 64, Hudson’s Bay 57

The Trappers made some key plays down the stretch to earn the final spot in the Class 3A Greater St. Helens League playoffs.

Fort Vancouver (8-12, 4-8), which is hosting the tournament, will take on Camas on Monday to begin the district playoffs.

The loss eliminated the Eagles. Hudson’s Bay (4-16, 3-9) finished sixth in the league.

Mario Eyler led the Trappers with 23 points. He hit a timely 3-point shot early in the fourth quarter to extend Fort Vancouver’s lead to seven points.

Late in the game, K-Last Karue made a steal and fed Deonte Hawkins for a layup that helped seal the victory.

Quinton Whitfield had 15 points and nine rebounds for Fort Vancouver. Loris Hervey scored 12 points, all in the second half.

Jahmile Sipaia scored a game-high 26 points for Hudson’s Bay, 20 of them in the second half.
