ELON, N.C. (AP) — Jack Isenbarger scored a career-high 34 points, knocking down five 3-pointers, to lead Elon to a 71-66 win over The Citadel on Saturday night.
Isenbarger made 11 of 16 of his shots from the field for the Phoenix (12-10, 7-4 Southern Conference), who won their second straight game. Lucas Troutman finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.
Elon never trailed in the second half, but had a tough time holding off the Bulldogs. The Citadel cut the Phoenix’s lead to two points with 1:11 remaining in the game when Marshall Harris III scored on a layup.
But the Bulldogs (4-19, 1-11) would not pull closer, as Elon answered with six straight points, keyed by Sebastian Koch’s four free throws, to help put the game out of reach.
Lawrence Miller scored 15 points for the Bulldogs, who have lost eight straight games. Mike Groselle had 14 points and eight rebounds.
