POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) — Jay Bowie scored 23 points Saturday night to lead Marist to an 80-69 victory over Canisius and end the Red Foxes’ eight-game losing streak.

Another Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference losing streak continued, however. This was the seventh consecutive loss for Canisius (4-19, 1-12). The Red Foxes, meanwhile, improved to 8-15, 3-9 in the MAAC.

Bowie hit 10 of 12 shots from the field en route to his 23 points. Chavaughn Lewis added 15 points and Devin Price 12 for Marist, which led 42-30 at halftime.

Canisius guard Harold Washington led all scorers with 25 points, hitting 12 of 15 free throws. Alshwan Hymes was the only other Golden Griffin in double figures with 14 points.

Marist made 30 of 62 field goal attempts (48.4 percent) while the Golden Griffins were 22 for 47 from the floor (46.8 percent). They made 20 of 23 free throws, but that wasn’t enough.
