Wilkerson, NJIT turn back Chicago State 73-64

CHICAGO (AP) — Isaiah Wilkerson scored a career-high 26 points Saturday night to lead NJIT to a 73-64 victory over Chicago State.

Ryan Woods added 12 points and reserve Arjun Ohri had 11 for the Highlanders (10-12, 3-2 Great West), who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Matt Samuels came off the bench to score 23 points for the Cougars (2-20, 1-4), who dropped their third in a row. Lee Fisher added 16 points and Jeremy Robinson 13.

Wilkerson, the league’s leading scorer, scored 10 points in the final minute, including going 8 for 8 from the free throw line. He added a game-high nine rebounds.

The Highlanders led 55-46 with 7:27 left before Robinson brought the Cougars within 63-60 on two free throws with 1:07 left. Wilkerson responded by hitting a jumper and then rattling off eight consecutive free throws over the final 40 seconds.
