Arkansas-Pine Bluff defeats Alabama A&M 81-75

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) — Daniel Broughton had 20 points and a career-high 19 rebounds, leading Arkansas-Pine Bluff to an 81-75 victory over Alabama A&M on Saturday night.

Mitchell Anderson added 17 points and 10 rebounds and Savalace Townsend had 16 points for the Golden Lions (4-19, 3-7 Southwestern), who improved to 3-3 following a 14-game losing streak.

Brandon Ellis led the Bulldogs (5-14, 3-7) with 20 points. Leading scorer Casey Cantey was held to seven points and was 1 of 8 from the field.

The Golden Lions went ahead for good six minutes into the game and took their biggest lead, 48-34, on two Rontrell Bailey free throws with 13:42 to play. Two 3-pointers by Jeremy Ingram, plus one by Ellis, fueled a 13-1 Bulldogs run that cut the lead to 49-47 with 9:46 left.

Pine Bluff responded with its own 16-4 run over the next four minutes, and Alabama A&M never threatened again.
