Boys basketball: La Center 65, Castle Rock 56

Freshman Wyatt Aguirre hit 8 of 8 free throw attempts in the fourth quarter to win a league tiebreaker at Woodland.

La Center will host to a Class 1A district playoff on Tuesday as the Trico League’s No. 4 seed. The Wildcats must win that game to earn a berth in the district tournament. Tuesday’s opponent, the Evergreen Conferenece’s No. 5 team, has not yet been determined.

“We poured it on them in the fourth and they basically had to foul us,” La Center coach Herm VanWeerdhuizen said. “Wyatt did a great job at the line.”

Aguirre finished with 17 points, matching Dylan King for the Wildcats’ high scorer. Jeremiah Arn had 11 points and 14 rebounds, and Levi Van Tol clogged up the lane with four blocks.
