Valparaiso defeats Wright State 63-54

VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — Richie Edwards scored 16 points and Kevin Van Wijk added 13 to lead Valparaiso to a 63-54 victory against Wright State on Saturday night.

Matt Kenney had 11 points and Ryan Broekhoff 10 for the Crusaders (17-8, 10-3 Horizon League), who shot 65.6 percent (21 of 32) from the floor en route to their seventh win in eight games.

Julius Mays had 20 points and seven rebounds and Reggie Arceneaux added 11 points for the Raiders (11-14, 6-7).

A 9-0 run over a 4:07 stretch late in the first half helped Valpo take a 31-21 advantage into the break. Wright State got no closer than five points afterward.

The Raiders made just 16 of 54 (29.6 percent) field-goal attempts.
