GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) — Sheriff’s officers say an argument over driving escalated into a shooting that left one Oregon man hospitalized.

The Josephine County sheriff’s office says a 38-year-old man was shot in the torso Sunday night in a roadside confrontation with another driver. Timothy Correia was hospitalized in fair condition Monday at a Grants Pass, Ore., hospital.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Erin Maue tells The Daily Courier (http://bit.ly/xDHGMZ ) that Correia and another male driver pulled their vehicles into a gravel turnout area and their confrontation escalated.

She says the second driver suffered facial injuries from a reported punch.

The case has been referred to the district attorney’s office for review.
