DENVER (AP) — A person familiar with the deal says the Colorado Rockies have agreed to trade pitchers Matt Lindstrom and Jason Hammel to the Baltimore Orioles for right-hander Jeremy Guthrie.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Monday because the trade has yet to be announced.
Guthrie, who turns 33 in April, agreed to a one-year, $8.2 million contract with the Rockies, avoiding an arbitration hearing that had been scheduled for Monday in St. Petersburg, Fla.
The deal for Guthrie, the Orioles’ opening day starter three of the last four seasons, was first reported by The Baltimore Sun. Guthrie lost 17 games last season, the most in the American League.
Lindstrom was a setup man for the Rockies in 2011, while Hammel went 7-13 in 32 appearances.
