Oregon company to manage Ketchikan shipyard

KETCHIKAN, Alaska (AP) — An Oregon company will acquire Alaska Ship and Drydock.

The Ketchikan Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/wqeUW6) the Alaska company will become part of Vigor Industrial of Portland.

Alaska Ship and Drydock has been the manager for the Ketchikan Shipyard for 18 years.

The shipyard’s owner is Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority part of the state’s commerce department.

The authority could take up the sale as soon as its Feb. 29 meeting in Anchorage.

Among Vigor’s holdings are the Swan Island shipyard in Portland, the Harbor Island yard in Seattle, and yards in Tacoma, Everett, Bremerton and Port Angeles, Wash.
