PASCO, Wash. (AP) — A Franklin County official suspected of embezzling $1 million was released from jail Tuesday while the investigation continues.

The accounting director for the Public Works Department, Dennis M. Huston, was arrested Thursday and had to be released because prosecutors need more time to review evidence before filing charges.

Huston is on unpaid leave.

The investigation began last month after an audit discovered misappropriation of funds.
