Ware scores 38, Long Beach St. tops Pacific 74-66

STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) — Casper Ware scored 27 of his career-high 38 points in the second half to lead Long Beach State to a 74-66 victory over Pacific on Thursday night.

Ware made a career-high eight 3-pointers, including three in a two-minute span to put the 49ers back in control after Pacific had rallied from a 10-point deficit to tie the game 55-55 with 7:53 remaining.

Ware, the reigning Big West Conference player of the year, scored 17 points in the final 7:19 to lead Long Beach (18-6, 11-0 Big West) to its 11th consecutive win. Ware was 7 of 11 beyond the 3-point arc in the second half.

T.J. Robinson added 13 points and 11 rebounds and Eugene Phelps scored 11 points for Long Beach.

Lorenzo McCloud led Pacific (9-14, 5-6) with 16 points. Ross Rivera scored 10 off the bench for the Tigers.
