This morning at 2:15 a.m. Clackamas County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (SAR) returned a lost snowboarder to Timberline Lodge. He was uninjured and safely returned to his group after snowboarding out of bounds and becoming lost earlier on Saturday.

On Saturday, February 11, 2012, at 5:30 p.m. Clackamas County Sheriff’s SAR received a call of an overdue, lost snowboarder, near Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood, Oregon. It was reported that 34-year-old Lim Dae was snowboarding with three friends at Timberline Lodge earlier in the day. He was seen snowboarding out-of-bounds at 1:30 p.m.

By 4:30 p.m. Mr. Dae’s party had lost contact with him and reported him missing.

Mount Hood Ski Patrol initiated a search for Mr. Dae and contacted CCSO SAR.

CCSO SAR was able to contact Mr. Dae by cell phone. With the help of a Korean interpreter searchers provided him instructions to remain where he was and await rescue. Mr. Dae was not injured and had no medical issues. He was dressed for snowboarding but otherwise unprepared to remain in the wilderness overnight.

By 2:15 a.m. volunteer searchers had located Mr. Dae and escorted him back to Timberline Lodge to join is party.
