Streaking Texas-Arlington downs Texas State 73-53

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — LaMarcus Reed scored 18 points and Kevin Butler had 17 as Texas-Arlington extended its school-record winning streak to 15 games Saturday with a 73-53 victory over Texas State.

The Mavericks (19-5, 11-0 Southland) committed 23 turnovers, went 6 for 24 on 3-point attempts and were just 7 of 13 from the free-throw line. But they outrebounded Texas State 50-30, leading to a 42-14 advantage on points in the paint.

Butler had 12 rebounds and Jordan Reves 10. Bo Ingram added 13 points for Texas-Arlington.

Reid Koenen had a career-high 16 points for the Bobcats (9-15, 2-9), who shot just 29 percent from the floor. Wesley Davis added 11.

The Mavericks never trailed, scoring the first eight points of the game en route to a 35-25 halftime lead. Texas State never got within single digits in the second half.
