KARLSRUHE, Germany (AP) — Yvette Lewis of the United States won the 60-meter hurdles at the Karlsruhe indoor meet Sunday after Carolin Nytra of Germany was disqualified for a false start.

Lewis won in 7.98 seconds, with Russia’s Tatyana Dektyareva second in 8.02 and another American, Loreal Smith, third in 8.06.

Nytra was timed in 7.97 in heats. She attributed her false start in the final to her being “so nervous” for her first race since winning at the European Championships in Paris last March.

Olympic champion Tomasz Majewski of Poland won the shot put, beating German world champion David Storl with a throw of 69 feet, 912 inches. Storl was second at 69-0 and Christian Cantwell of the U.S. was third.
