High speed chase on Oregon coast ends in crash

NEWPORT, Ore. (AP) — The Lincoln County sheriff’s office says a driver fleeing deputies sped through Depoe Bay, Lincoln Beach, Gleneden Beach and Salishan reaching speeds at times of more than 100 miles per hour.

The chase ended Sunday night when the driver crashed into a guardrail on Highway 101 near Kernville.

The driver, a 40-year-old Portland man, was treated for minor injuries and jailed on multiple charges including attempting to elude police and reckless driving.
