HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) — A soccer coach accused of sexually abusing a 16-year-old Oregon girl he coached has been arraigned in Circuit Court.

The Oregonian reports (http://is.gd/4g3Ffw ) that 26-year-old Dean Powell of London, England, has been charged with three counts of second-degree sexual abuse. He was arraigned Monday and has another court appearance set for Feb. 21. It was not immediately known whether he had a lawyer.

Washington County sheriff’s detectives say the girl called West Linn police to disclose sexual contact with her adult soccer coach over the past two years. Detectives arrested Powell on Saturday.

The Oregonian says Powell is a coach with F.C. Portland Academy.

F.C. Portland Executive Director Joe Wedding says the girl is not associated with his club. Wedding says Powell has coached youth teams with F.C. Portland for slightly less than two years. Wedding says he’s never received any complaints.
