LAKEWOOD, Wash. (AP) — The Lakewood police officer accused of embezzling more than $120,000 from donations for the families of four slain colleagues has been fired.

KOMO News reports (http://bit.ly/wxa5H2) that Lakewood Police chief Bret Farrar announced the firing of Skeeter Manos on Monday, about a week after he was arrested at the city hall.

Manos was charged in federal court with embezzling more than $120,000. Charging documents say he made purchases of several thousand dollars at Costco and Home Depot with the money, as well as gambling trips to Las Vegas and local casinos.

Prosecutors say Manos embezzled the money from about $3.2 million in donations that poured after four Lakewood police officers were shot to death in a coffee shot as they started their shift.
