KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — Myles Taylor scored a career-high 31 points and fellow freshman Khristian Taylor made the game-winning free throw with 3 seconds left in overtime to lift Tennessee-Martin past Kennesaw State 76-75 on Tuesday night, snapping a 15-game losing streak.
Myles Taylor was 9 of 17 from the field and 13 of 14 from the free-throw line for the Skyhawks (4-24), who overcame a nine-point first-half deficit in the nonconference game.
After Tennessee-Martin built a seven-point second-half advantage, the Owls (3-24) pulled ahead 64-63 with 5:51 left in regulation. Jeremy Washington’s jumper tied it at 70, forcing overtime.
Spencer Dixon, who led Kennesaw State with 20 points, hit a 3-pointer to open the extra period and the Owls maintained the lead until Omari Minor hit the second of two free throws to tie it at 75 with 1:46 remaining.
Neither team could score until Taylor hit the second of two foul shots.
